Laptop Mag have gotten their hands on an interesting eBook reader called the Entourage Edge. They find it strange though. It's the same size and form factor as a netbook, but it's actually two screens: one e-ink screen and the other a normal LCD screen. It's too big to be an eBook reader, they felt, but they do appreciate the effort to make such an unconventional product. Upon opening the Edge, the first thing we noticed is the hinge that allows for a complete 180-degree range of motion for both of the dualbook’s displays. Users can fold them back to back and use just one display at a time, lay the device ...

I'm sure most of you were waiting for this, right? Since Nokia's previous Maemo Internet Tablet offerings were also capable of running Google Android, it was only a matter of time before somebody thought of installing Android on Nokia's intrepid new smartphone. And imagine: installing two open platforms on one excellent phone? It's a geek's wet dream come true. From Slashgear: Brandon Roberts is the man responsible for the dual-booting marvel, and while he’s describing it more as a proof of concept right now than a workable solution, from what little is shown in the video he’s come a decent way. The keyboard seems to work, and the ...

This is a rather old gadget already, but it's worth a look because of renewed interest in tablet computers thanks to the iPad. The Always Innovating Touch Book is a smartbook that has a detachable touchscreen so you can use it as a tablet computer whenever you want or need it to be. I know we've seen this on Lenovo smartbooks already, but the Always Innovating Touch Book has an advantage over the competition - everything about this is open source! Yes, the hardware and software on this smartbook is open source, and is spearheaded by Gregoire Gentil, the man behind the Zonbu Desktop and Laptop.

After years and years of waiting for the almost-legendary Apple Tablet to even show up, today, Apple just finally ended years of speculation in their "Newest Creation" event by showing a demo of the Tablet, named iPad. Yes, everyone. The Apple iPad is real, and it's pretty. We all know how crazy the hype has been for the iPad. We've seen blogs dedicated around 50% of their articles just for iPad rumors, and really, I got sick of hearing about the magical computer's capabilities. I got to the point where I was expecting somebody to say that the Apple Tablet can cure cancer. I was just as excited as ...

tablet2 Don't worry, it had me fooled for a moment too. Now these purported pictures of the mythical Apple Tablet or iSlate or iPad or whatever name it is the Apple rumor mill cranked out this time surfaced just a few hours ago. Posted by designer and user interface guy Dustin Curtis (the same guy involved in the American Airlines website design dust-up) on his Posterous account, the images are of the alleged tablet sitting on top of a MacBook pro. While some blogs, like Mashable, are on the verge of being convinced on the basis of these pictures, I'm rather skeptical. At first glance I bolted up in my chair, stared ...

googletablet Oh boy, is Google sure on a roll. Mere weeks after the announcement of the Google Phone, the Android-powered Nexus One, and the Google Netbook running (also recently-announced) Google Chrome OS, rumors began flying of another hardware product running Chrome OS. And this time it's a tablet computer.

apple-tablet So just the other day, we were inundated with news about Apple renting a venue for January regarding a possible Apple Tablet launch. But of course renting a venue and showing off the product are two different things. For all we know, it might just actually be another iPod launch. But now we're getting some rumors that are actually pointing the way to an Apple Tablet launch. It now looks like Apple is preparing apps for the (as of yet nonexistent) gadget. According to Silicone Alley Insider: Apple is preparing to show off a new, larger mobile device with a higher resolution display in January -- probably a version of the ...

500x_500x_crunchpad It's dead, Jim. And now, news of the CrunchPad's demise has reached the blogosphere (twice-over, I must say), we're here to examine the post-mortem. It was an ambitious project: an internet tablet meant to sell cheap. Everybody was waiting for it with bated breath, but it never came.

I have a love-hate relationship with the Symbian OS. On one hand, it's a mature mobile operating system with a huge selection of applications. On the other hand, it's been pretty restrictive, especially now that you have to sign your applications before you can even install them. Also, it's pretty old, the UI is horrible, and application programmers everywhere are complaining about how hard it is to make apps for Symbian. Which is why we're all keeping an eye on the N900. The N900, if you haven't heard, is the first phone running Nokia's Linux-based Maemo. Nokia already released a few internet tablets running Maemo before, but this is the first time we've seen Maemo being set up ...

HP DreamScreen

Posted by Ade as Gadgets
HP is introducing a new line of tablet computers. It's a souped-up netbook, basically, and it looks good. The new HP DreamScreen is a tablet with a remote control that can used throughout the house to stream content from your home network, removable storage cards, or internal storage. The DreamScreen will come in two size. One model will have a 10.2 inch display and sell for around $249, while a larger version will have a 13.3 inch display and $299 price tag. Both models will include WiFi, Ethernet, 2GB of built in storage and a media card reader. They feature software for watching videos and visiting web destinations including Pandora, Snapfish, and Facebook. There’s also a new HP SmartRadio feature ...

Sony reveals PlayStation Move

I have to admit, my mind is officially blown. Sony finally revealed its new PlayStation 3 motion controller at GDC 2010 in San Francisco, and boy is it looking good.

Dubbed the Playstation Move, the advanced motion controls on this baby makes it supposedly more accurate than that other motion controller from that little-known console from [...]
