Everyone welcomes the arrival of summer. This means going out on vacation or performing a lot of activities outdoors. With the sun in full swing, one of the most favorite pastimes is going swimming – or if we want to mention the one thing we really associate with summer, going to the beach.
There are many activities we can do at the beach. But one of the most enjoyable activities is snorkeling or diving. There’s something to be said about watching the beauty of aquatic wildlife. The colorful corals and the fishes teeming in reefs. But there are certain disadvantages to both sports. With snorkeling, you really are relegated mostly to the surface so that you can breathe. But with diving, you need carry a lot of gear with you just to breathe underwater.
But Powerdive has introduced a happy medium of sorts for those who want to enjoy life underwater. The Power Snorkel is a device that bridges the gap between diving and snorkeling. The Power Snorkel is basically a buoy that is essentially a floating air tank. Instead of strapping air on your back the device stays on the water. You get to breathe through the use of a 20 foot long hose attached to the Power Snorkel’s tank. The other end of the hose splits into two from which two 20 foot long hoses snake out terminating in a regulator. This allows two people to breathe underwater without being encumbered by heavy air tanks. Imagine snorkeling and then diving freely for up to 70 minutes on a single charge. The buoy itself has a flag on it so it will be easy to spot in case it floats away from where the divers dove.
The Powerdive Power Snorkel retails for $2495.
