Okay. Hmmm… first time I heard this, I didn’t get it too.
According to yahoo.com’s tech blog section tech gadgets have become our girls new best friend! From a survey they did, out of 1,750 adults, 26% said that they are wanting to receive battery powered thing-a-ma-jigs from their sweeteroos!
That got me thinking… 26% is noticably high for “things” that are just gaining popularity vs. the standard gifts of roses, chocolates, love poems…
Yesterday, I was strolling in a mall with my 10-year-old daughter when she tugged me towards the electronics section. I was surprised, really… she was leading the stroll, probably waiting for something to catch her eye or my eye…
But you know what? Just after we passed by them shops she said “Dad, I want a pink iPod!”. I said, but you’re holding a Creative Zen now, which is really just the same thing. But she went on and said “Dad… this is yours, and i’m thankful you’re letting me use it…. but I want my own… and a pink iPod it is!”
What do I do? What do I do? 🙂 Should I give in… or should i wait until she’s 18! Well I think that it will be a lingering crave for her. Issue there is will dad have $200 buckeroos to spend for it.Â

Somehow I admire how the Apple guys are very successful at connecting with this generation. I think Steve Job’s is hitting them while they’re young! Boy when I was in my teens I remember I’d tug my mom to get me them Tonka Toys! I guess now… it’s the iPods that’s making the Tonka craze of yesteryears! Do you remember the Tonka Trucks???
Hahaha… I think gadgets are fast becoming her best friend!
What’s yours?
