The new iRiver Clix 2GB Portable Media Player wants you to touch it. Touch the screen that is. In fact, iRiver wants you to touch their product more than Nintendo wants you to touch the DS (Nintendo at least gives yo uthe option of controlling the DS with off-screen buttons).
Hey, touch is the new white;-)
The $199 portable media device from iRiver employs total onscreen touch navigation, doing away completely with standard nav buttons. This allows for more screen real estate on less form factor. The 2GB Clix allows you to play digital music and video as well as FM radio, displays pictures, has a voice recorder, can hook up to your digital camera or computer via USB and even supports subscription music services so you can get your music legit. The iRiver even lets you play Flash based games. And don’t worry about getting your screen dirty: it comes with a screen cleaner!
Wired Mag gives the iRiver an 8/10 rating saying:
Uncluttered by buttons or scroll wheels, this gadget has the slickest menus I’ve ever seen….Sound and video playback are great though, with a clear picture and crisp, clean audio.
The only major downside that I see to the product so far is that it only integrates with computer systems that have Windows XP installed. But who cares this is one PMP we’ll have to add to our “I Want One!” list (a list that’s getting too long for Christmas already!).
