ComputerandVideogames.com is reporting that Sir Howard Stringer, CEO of Sony, confirmed a Spring 2006 release for the PS3 at a meeting yesterday.
Everyone had already expected such a date, but the real question is now when the PS3 will be hitting North American shores, as there is usually a staged approach to the release of Sony consoles, leaving US release coming near the end of 2006 or early 2007?
Microsoft is aiming to have a quick, nearly simultaneous release of the Xbox 360, and Sony would be a little behind if they did not atleast try to do the same, but who knows if they will.
There is no firm date yet, but I hope I don’t have to wait an extra six months after the Asian release before I can get my hands on the PS3.
