Hello guys, gals, and geeks. 😀 I had to take a vacation, or else I would really be loopy beyond repair by now. I’ve been noticing something buzzing in the air lately, and it’s not the Christmas anticipation. It’s something related to all things geeky.
Yes, you heard right. Windows Vista was such a flop that Microsoft decided to develop the pet OS instead: Windows XP.
I haven’t seen Vista in in-depth action personally just yet. I was able to open some program windows through a friend’s laptop, but her screen was just too dim for me to appreciate anything.
When I read about the “innovations” in Windows XP SP3, I realized, the innovation they were talking about? That you can enter the product key by the 30th day of the trial period? I had encountered it back then, when I had problems with my cousins’ Windows XP installation. So I don’t know if they had a leaked copy of XP SP3, but what I do know that the significance of this move towards XP SP3 is an acknowledgment of the fact that Windows Vista was just a flop.
I may never understand why Windows is so sexy to other geeks, but this is what I do know: I can be more productive on Windows XP or Ubuntu Linux than on OS X Tiger. Why? Simply because Firefox on Windows and Ubuntu Linux in general both look so.. Drizella-ish (one of Cinderella’s ugly step-sisters, Disney version :p) compared to OS X’s sexy, sexy look; thus I can concentrate on working rather than on playing and tweaking and surfing and all other time-wasters that I do on OS X.
And on those days, I surely wish I had a Windows or Ubuntu Linux Box once more. 🙁
To reminisce, that pic I attached here is my old, battered, now eviscerated old Phoenix. Rest in pieces, my former best bud. 🙁
